Gynecologist-obstetrician, Dr. Patrice Mathevet is an expert in gynecological cancers and more particularly in the surgical treatment of pelvic cancers. He was appointed full professor of UNIL and chief physician of the Department of Gynecology of CHUV from 1 October 2013.

Born in 1960, Dr. Mathevet completed his degree in medicine and biology at the University Claude Bernard Lyon. He obtained his qualification as a specialist in gynecology-obstetrics (1990), which he completed with a certificate of methods in research clinical and epidemiological (1991) and a Master of Human Biology (1991). A stay at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (USA) as Visiting Professor Assistant (1992-1993) allowed him to work on carcinogenesis in relation to human papillomaviruses. Back in Lyon, he went on to a diploma of advanced studies (DEA) in differentiation, genetics and immunology (1994) and a doctorate of science (2002), while practicing as a hospital practitioner in the Department of Prof. Dargent at the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon.

Dr. Hoffman is a world-renowned expert in the surgical management of gynecologic cancers and other complex gynecologic disorders. He has over 30 years of surgical experience, has published extensively on all aspects of female cancer surgery, and has lectured around the world on these subjects. Dr. Hoffman’s expertise includes laparoscopic, robotic, open (traditional) and vaginal surgery. After completing his gynecologic oncology fellowship at The University of South Florida, Dr. Hoffman stayed as a full-time faculty member until October of 2015. He is the author of one textbook, over 250 articles in scientific journals and 24 textbook chapters. He is an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hoffman was voted by physician peers as one of the top gynecologic oncologists (Tampa Magazine, 2017).

Dr. Nick is a board certified gynecologic oncologist. Dr. Nick received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, and completed her gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX in 2011. As a gynecologic oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Nick worked collaboratively to expand the developmental therapeutics research program and led a quality improvement project focused on improving outcomes and standardizing care for patients with ovarian cancer. Dr. Nick provides patients who are high risk or have gynecologic cancers novel and up-to-date medical and surgical treatment options including laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

(MN) - Dr. Jamie N. Bakkum-Gamez, MD

The research involvement and interests of Jamie N. Bakkum-Gamez, M.D., include screening and early detection modalities in ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer; prognostic molecular markers in ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer; and quality improvement in postoperative outcomes after ovarian cancer staging surgery.

Dr. Bakkum-Gamez also focuses on prevention of ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer and primary peritoneal cancer, and is investigating minimally invasive surgical management of gynecologic cancers.

Additional research involves pathogenesis and risk factor modification in endometrial cancer.
